This is car has been recently judged by the Antique Automobile Club of America and was awarded Historic Preservation of Original Features designation. It is powered by a 390ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. It is finished in Emberglo Metallic over Parchment vinyl upholstery. This 1965 Ford Thunderbird (1 of only 4500) is a Special Landau coupe and is a rare original, unrestored car. Thunderbirds of this vintage featured wrap around rear seats, enter mounted air conditioning and a slide away steering wheel. This is a California rust-free T-Bird, lso original sold in California. Included were special three tone hubcap centers, olor keyed seat belts and full interior color change, alnut burl wood grain, archment vinyl top and Special Landau nameplates inside and out. The Thunderbird division created this all new Ember-Glo metallic paint and parchment two tone model. Of those manufactured, /font>įord created the Limited Edition Special Landau in response to the immense popularity of the 1965 Mustang. Emberglo was used on unique Special Landau deluxe wheel covers, Ford part number C5SZ 1130-C), hich were standard on this model and not available on other models, n place of the traditional black-painted vanes. Special touches included Ember-Glo accents on interior instrument panel, ucket seat backs, nd carpeting. All Special Landau models were equipped with a Special Parchment-colored vinyl roof, nd a matching interior. Thunderbird Special Landau was introduced in the Spring of 1965, nd differed from the regular Landau due to its unique combination of interior and exterior colors, s well as differences in trim. Tires have been on the car since 2001 and have good tread, ut probably need to be replaced to be a daily driver due to age and possible tire rot. Minor scuffs on drivers side door small chipped paintnear trunk lock. I have a thick folder full of every receipt and purchase for this vehicle- over 10k in receipts (including engine blue print balance). It does not have the plate on the drivers door for the data. I never had the transmission rebuilt, he brakes redone, r the steering adjusted- these are really the only three areas I never got around to doing. Installed Ford Factory A/C unit5 years ago, hich still blows super cold. I have purchased, ut have not installed the new window moldings - which are dry and cracking. The drivers side smaller vent window does not operate via the motor. The electrical is fine both passenger / driver windows are operable. It has sat in my garage in Atlanta, eorgiafor the last 4 years, hough I have started it every so often and driven it in my neighborhood. The engine was taken out in 2002 and blue print balanced (Edelbrock Carburetor), nd currently runs fine- though you can tell it needs a tune up. I added acd changer under the arm rest, ith infinity speakers andRockford Fosgate amps and speakers in the trunk (currently a fuse or wiring issue). However, he new paint, heinteriorseats (no rips or tears),the custom door trim,and the headlinerwere completed redone in2001. It was not intended to be "restored" to the original T-Bird look of 1965. As you can see by the picture,it does not have the original wheels or hubcaps instead, t has Zenith rims with Vogue tires.After a few years, started to fix several things. It was an old beat up Tbird, ith faded paint and raggedy interior. I purchased it in California from a small used car lot and have owned since 1998. This is a 1965 Ford Thunderbird Special Landau.
